SWEA OC stipendium delas normalt årligen ut till studenter vid University of California Irvine, som har utsetts att studera vid Lunds Universitet via det s.k. ”UCEAP (University of California Education Abroad) Reciprocity Program”. Informationen är därför på engelska.
Due to the pandemic, the scholarship is not available for the academic year of 2021-22. SWEA OC anticipates that application materials for the 2022-23 school year will be available sometime in the fall of 2021.
SWEA Orange County offers an annual scholarship to one or two full-time university students interested in getting to know the Swedish culture, country, and language while conducting university studies at the University of Lund, Sweden. The amount of the scholarship is determined each year by the members of SWEA Orange County. In 2019 the amount was $5000. The scholarship is available to students at University of California, Irvine who also are participants in the UCEAP Reciprocity Program with Lund University in Sweden beginning fall 2021.
At that time, the applicant must submit a completed application form listing academic credentials and experience related to the student’s future study in Lund. At least two letters of recommendation together with a resume is also required. He or she must also write an essay describing the purpose of the visit as well as the reason for the interest in Sweden.
With guidance from the UCEAP, SWEA OC Board of Directors selects the recipient, typically in early spring before the upcoming academic year.
Upon returning, the student will be asked to write a short essay of his or her experiences in Sweden and, as a courtesy to SWEA OC, submit this to the membership magazine. This essay not only serves as an inspiration for future applicants, but it also provides SWEA OCs membership feedback from its scholarship recipients.
The scholarship is not available for any member of SWEA Orange County.
Interested applicants can download updated application materials here when it is available. Please check back regularly.
